About

Our film partnership began when we were little kids, making videos on our smartphones. By middle school, we began learning Final Cut, Premiere Pro, and After Effects through YouTube videos and experimenting with videography and stop-action animation. We later began taking formal filmmaking courses at NJ Film School and Digital Media Academy. In 2019, we formed KrazyK9 Productions. In a few years, we won our first prize at a significant film festival: the Grand Prize for Emerging Filmmakers for the film, "Remote Learning," at the Montclair Film Festival, hosted every year by Stephen Colbert.

Since as long as we can remember, our harabuji (grandfather) used to tell us stories about the Korean War. So we began recording his stories on our smartphones. As our harabuji entered his late 80s, we were inspired to create a film about his life, which is presented here as a mini documentary series. This project is an ongoing collaborative effort involving multiple interviews and historical research. We are grateful to our family members for helping with the Korean-to-English translations.

We have always been fascinated by the capacity for stories to transport us to other places and times. Over the years, we have come to appreciate the power of storytelling to help us understand other people's lives and experiences, which in turn helps us examine our own lives and values. To honor our harabuji and his generation, who served in the Korean War, also known as the Forgotten War, we hope this film project will help younger generations, like us, understand and never forget the tragedies of war.
