About

Since early childhood, I have been making videos on my smartphone. In middle school, I began learning Final Cut, Premiere Pro, and After Effects on my own through Youtube videos and experimenting with videography and basic animation. I then began to take formal filmmaking courses at NJ Film School, and Digital Media Academy. I formed KrazyK9 Productions in 2019. In high school, I won a Grand Prize at Emerging Filmmaker Competition of the prestigious Montclair Film Festival (hosted every year by Stephen Colbert) for my film, "Remote Learning."

My family began recording my Harabuji’s (grandfather's) stories on our mobile devices. As my harabuji approached his late 80s, I became inspired to create a film on his life, which is presented here as a mini documentary series. This project represents an ongoing effort involving multiple interviews, historical research, and the collaborative efforts of my brother, Liam Donohue, my filmmaking partner. I am grateful to family members who have helped with the Korean to English translations.

I have always been fascinated by the capacity for stories to transport us to other places and times. Over the years, I have come to appreciate the power of storytelling to help us understand other people's lives and experiences, which in turn help us examine our own lives and values. To honor my Harabuji and his generation who have served in the Korean War, also known as the Forgotten War, I hope this film project will help members of younger generations, like myself, understand and never forget the tragedies of war.
